Legal Services and Assistance

Do you need legal help? All Madison County resident, 60 years of age and older, (or others who qualify due to special circumstances) can seek legal advice and counseling from the The Legal Aid Society of Mid- New York.

 

The Legal Aid Society is able to provide the following services:

  • Legal Advice
  • Legal Counseling
  • Preparation of legal documents

 

What types of legal problems are handled?

  •  Landlord/Tenant matters
  • Social Security
  • Conservatorship
  • Durable Power of Attorney
  • Wills & Living Wills
  • Health Care Proxy

 

What will the service cost?

 Legal services are for all older citizens in need of legal advice and counseling. There is no charge for the service; however, donations are gratefully accepted. All should feel welcome to request service and no one will ever be denied service for inability to contribute. 

 

The Madison County Office for the Aging, a non-profit agency, reimburses the Legal Aid Society at a per hour rate for attorney services.
